Read your work out loud and receive immediate, thoughtful feedback in weekly online sessions. Each sessions starts with a brief, 15-minute craft lesson from the instructor. These lessons focus on demonstrating practical approaches to strengthening your writing skills and exploring how to improve your reader's connection with your work. After the lesson, writers have a chance to road test their manuscripts and hear how their writing sounds to others. Feedback is guided by a facilitator trained to ensure an objective, honest and kind environment. You'll receive specific, actionable critique. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and see how your audience responds to your writing in real time.
At program conclusion, you'll be invited to schedule your private conference with the instructor, Kelsye Nelson. This is your opportunity for a deep dive into your manuscript with profound critique and informed outside perspective. In addition to the conference discussion, you'll receive developmental and line editing notes on a portion of your manuscript. (Up to 2,500 words.) Use this hour to discuss particular questions or concerns about your manuscript, or hear ideas on polishing the manuscript for publication. All focus will be on your goals and your writing. With Kelsye, you gain a capable, enthusiastic partner eager to provide support to make your manuscript the absolute best it may be.

"Word people—writers, editors, agents, and publishers—approach words with a wide range of abilities. Some can spot a missing period with a glance from across the room; others can always pluck just the right word to wring a more brilliant image from a phrase; still others sail through big ideas, measuring the force of this or that passage in light of the others. But in my over thirty-seven years of publishing books, I’ve never before found all these talents wrapped up in a single word person—not until Kelsye.
Kelsye can hop effortlessly from a comma on the page to the deep themes of a novel to an intricate detail that makes a character breathe—all the while offering insights that are brilliant, articulate, and always on point for your unique piece.
Her feedback will leave you feeling exhilarated and determined. She does it all with authenticity and humility will leave you inspired. I highly recommend collaborating with her at any opportunity you can."
